In 2008, André founded Aleva Neurotherapeutics SA (Lausanne, Switzerland), a company that develops implantable Deep Brain Stimulation leads for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease. Aleva has raised over 22Mio CHF in Venture Capital, and is widely recognized as having introduced Directional Deep Brain Stimulation to the field of Neuromodulation. Prior to Aleva, André held positions in the US and Europe with a focus on startup stage medical devices and high tech development. He served on the early teams of Sensimed AG (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Zyvex Corporation (Dallas, TX), and has held positions at the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Bosch Research in Silicon Valley, CA.
André received his BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto and his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at EPFL, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, under the wise guidance of Prof Philippe Renaud.
