About / Bio / Mission
ViaSat Antenna Systems, S.A., is focused on the design and development of innovative antenna systems for satellite telecommunications. The company provides custom design, development, prototyping, and testing of antennas for both the ground segment, mobile (land vehicles, boats and aircraft) and fixed, and the space segment.
Originally called JAST, it was founded in 1998 as a spin-off of the Laboratoire d’Electromagnétisme et d’Acoustique of EPFL. After participating in several EU and ESA programs in the field of antenna arrays for satellite communications, JAST developed its own antenna products for L-band mobile SatCom systems which it started to commercialize since 2006.
In 2006 JAST started also to work with ViaSat Inc. to deliver custom antenna solutions for mobile SatCom systems used in commercial and military applications.
JAST became a 100% owned subsidiary of ViaSat in August 2007 and changed the name from JAST to ViaSat Antenna Systems in February 2013. Thanks to the sale of its products and technology to external customers and internally to other ViaSat divisions, VAS has grown to a staff of 13 FTE since then.

The leading-edge competencies and technologies of VAS in the field of antenna arrays, allow developing innovative front-ends fully embeddable in vehicle profile (e.g. cars, boats, airplanes, military vehicles) enabling rich multimedia content into vehicles.
